Building the Future Optical Network in Europe:
Key final outcomes of the EU BONE project

The BONE Network of Excellence has brought together 49 laboratories and research institutes from Europe in a close networking infrastructure, with the objective of studying key issues relating to the realization of the Network of the Future, which will be based on optical technology. Investigations were carried out through the development of novel research tools, the use of testbeds for new technologies and architectures and a dynamic program of education and training.
